There Is a Garden

Tout d'abord, je vous souhaite le meilleur pour cette nouvelle année. Je commence 2026 avec cette page réalisée en partie avec la collection Sketchbook de Bea Valint et inspirée par une citation de Rûmî.

Hi! 

First, I'd like to wish you the best for this new year. I'm starting 2026 with a page featuring the Sketchbook collection by Bea Valint and inspired by the poet Rûmî.

Comme je vous le disais, c'est une citation du poète Rûmî qui m'a inspirée cette page : "Somewhere beyond right and wrong, there is a garden. I will meet you there". En Français, ça donne : "Quelque part au-delà du bon et du mauvais, du vrai et du faux, du fait d'avoir raison ou tort, il y a un jardin. C'est là que je viendrai à ta rencontre". Pour moi, ce jardin est le cœur en paix. J'ai donc tracé et découpé un cœur dans un papier fleuri de la collection Whimsical de Paige Evans. J'ai ensuite cousu les bords avec de la laine bleue pour apporter de la texture et du relief et pour faire de ce cœur un cocon. J'ai voulu y représenter un beau jardin coloré. J'ai commencé par faire l'herbe en traçant et découpant des cercles dans différents papiers de teinte verte. J'ai ensuite coupé à nouveau ces cercles en deux et je les ai disposés sur la moitié inférieure du cœur en papier. J'ai ajouté quelques fleurs de l'ephemera pack Sketchbook pour agrémenter mon herbe ainsi que des lettres autocollantes de la collection Turn the Page de Paige Evans pour former le mot "peace".

As I've just said, this layout was inspired by a few lines by Rûmî: "Somewhere beyond right and wrong, there is a garden. I will meet you there". For me, this garden is the heart at peace. So I started by drawing and cutting a heart in a floral paper from the Whimsical collection by Paige Evans. I then got busy stitching the edges of my paper heart with blue wool to bring texture and depth, and also to turn that heart into a cocoon. I wanted to create a beautiful and colourful garden inside the heart. So I started with the grass by cutting circles in several green papers. I cut the circles again in half and I placed them on the bottom area of the heart. I added a couple of flowers from the Sketchbook ephemera pack and alpha stickers from the Turn the Page collection by Paige Evans to complete my paper grass.

Pour le soleil, j'ai à nouveau découpé un cercle dans un papier floral que j'ai ajusté au bord supérieur du cœur avant de le coller. Puis j'ai glissé des petites bandes de papier colorées sous le cercle pour faire les rayons. J'ai ajouté une branche de l'autre côté et mon cœur était terminé. Pour le fond de ma page, j'ai choisi un papier rose tout doux au centre duquel j'ai collé le cœur. J'ai ensuite glissé de grandes bandes de papier de différentes couleurs sous le cœur pour là aussi faire des rayons. J'ai dessiné des nuages dans une feuille du paper pad Sketchbook avant de les découper et de les coller autour du cœur. J'ai apporté la touche finale à ma page en ajoutant les mots de Rûmî, que j'ai imprimés et découpés en bandes, sur les nuages.

To make the sun, I cut another circle in a floral paper that I had to adjust to the heart's edge before sticking it. I then slipped some patterned paper strips under it to create the rays. I added a branch on the other side and my heart was complete. For the background, I picked a beautiful light pink paper in the middle of which I placed the heart. Here again, I slipped colourful paper strips under it to make rays. I drew and cut clouds in a paper from the Sketchbook 6x8 pad and adhered them around the heart. I finished my page by adding Rûmî's words, that I printed and cut in strips, on the clouds.
